I'm sorry for the things I saidI highly doubt anyone still follows me, or remembers who I am. And that's okay. Many years ago, I was part of a small group of writers on this website. We all took turns submitting our original writing for longform critiques. At least one of the writers in the group had characters that were gay. At the time, I didn't realize I was struggling with my own sexuality and gender identity. Unfortunately, I took that out on the people in the group, refusing to read and critique works with gay characters or relationships, regardless of the "sfw"-ness of the story. That was wrong. And I am so, so sorry.Cut to now, 10+ years after I last used deviantart regularly.I am gay. I am trans. I'm getting married on the 8th to my beautiful gay and trans fiancée. I am also now an ex-evangelical, though I don't feel comfortable saying exactly which religion I was from. How I acted back then is an intense source of shame for me. Even at the time when I was fully immersed in my faith, I felt bad doing what I did but I did it anyway. There is no excuse for what I did and how I may have hurt other people. I was legitimately brainwashed, and it's taken me this fucking long to realize that.I'm probably not going to check the replies to this, if there are any. This website holds nothing for me now, other than being an archive for my old works that I can't bear to delete. If you've made it this far, thank you, and once again, I'm sorry. I can only hope that the people I may have harmed get some closure from this and can move on, if they haven't already.Leah
Lmao no wonder I didn't remember ever joining this group.
Contemplating joining...

Question: Will characters based on public domain characters and/or historical figures be counted as "fan characters"? For example, I have a Robin Hood in my repertoire. He is not based on Disney's Robin Hood, The Kevin Costner Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, or any other modern version of the tale. He exists within a Robin Hood tale of my own creation, so I would classify him as original. Similarly, I have characters based on Aztec mythology, and one on the real-life serial killer Jack the Ripper. In general, I like to reimagine famous legends, myths, and historical events. Would this group accept such characters?
On second thought, I just noticed the years of previous postings. Well, if the place ever resurrects, I'm interested.
Wow, it looks so quiet!

But I doooooo have a question.

i have a character who is... bigender. It basically means that they feel both totally male and totally female. Biologically, the character is a he, so I'll refer to him as such. Since he goes by two names, one for male and one for female, does a separate profile need to be made for his male and his female parts?
I'd assume seeing as they are just one person, it'd only need be a single profile.
Just be sure to state that they go by both she & he and whatever the names are.
I'm sorry you have to wait until our founder gets back. He is in hiatus right for some unknown reason. I'm sure there would be a logical explanation once he gets back and he would answer your question right away.

But to answer your question, if "he" is basically born as a male I think it is logical that he can be identified as such, unless he undergo a transformation and more female now than male.
